Life seemed pretty dark. Having come through a bitter divorce, I wondered if I'd ever get over the anger and hurt. I was furious and beaten down. I had been betrayed and used. Since seeing Susie, I realized the loss of my pet had stirred up a lot of old losses I'd never dealt with. What a relief to not feel judged in my grief!

I found out it wasn't my marriage at all - it was me. I'd gotten caught up in all of the obligations of my life - wife, kids, house, job. and got disconnected from myself. Had to make some tough choices and some changes, but it was well worth it. Life is a lot happier now, and I can look in the mirror and not see sadness staring back at me.
